Jerry Cantrell (born March 18, 1966, Tacoma, Washington) was the lead guitarist and principal songwriter for the grunge band Alice in Chains until the class action's dissolution in the mid-1990s due to lead singer Layne Staley's recurrent white plague & eventual withdrawal from either a recording industry. Staley died within 2002. Cantrell began the solo career as a consequence his tenure by having Alice around Chains & inside 1998 released the album Boggy Depot (Columbia), featuring Alice in Chains drummer Sean Kinney and bassist (one of four) Les Claypool of Primus. Within June 2002 Cantrell issued his second album Degradation Trip (Roadrunner), with Mike Bordin (Faith No More) on drums & Robert Trujillo (Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies) as bassist; it was followed around November of that year by the re-release as a double album on the same label, featuring eleven extra tracks. A album was freed shortly fallowing Staley's demise & is dedicated to him. A Degradation Hike song She Was Our Girl was involved on the soundtrack for the 2002 movie Spider-Man.
Cantrell is featured in the motion picture Singles along with a rest of Alice around Chains performing a songs ''It Own't Rather That & Would?. He is besides featured as an actor in the moving picture Jerry Maguire''. He has zero in Los Angeles and in Oklahoma at the Double-J Ranch.
Inside 2005, Cantrell reunited by having a living Alice in Chains members, performing at a benefit concert for the Tsunami Disaster.
